The Friends & Members of 750 Words
750 Words exists because of mutual good will between the people that run this site (Buster & Kellianne) and the people who use it (you). The site wouldn't exist without the generosity, patience, and humor of everyone involved. For the first 3+ years that the site was running (Dec 2009 to May 2013), the site was free to use but with some encouragement to donate. That served us well (and most importantly, generated enough income to keep the site up), but as the site grew the need for support also grew.
On June 12th 2013, all existing users of the site were given lifetime free accounts (we hope you'll continue to donate when you can). New accounts created after June 12th, 2013 are now required to become members within 30 days after signing up in order to keep writing. Everyone will always have access to previous writings, stats, etc, even if they choose not to become members.
We're listening to your feedback and want to make sure that first and foremost, we offer a friendly and safe place for people to dump their private thoughts. I expect that we'll continue to adjust the way this all works for the near term. Thanks for being an awesome community!

Notes of inspiration from membersDifferent modes to write in would be really helpful, I personally prefer dark mode but also a grey mode or something similar would be a really nice addition!
New Feature Request Note from Tayla Gittins on Sat, Dec 04
Raise a cup to all the fine folks who worked so hard to get our beloved writing space back up so saucily! We appreciate you! Thank you!
Testimonial Note from Jeannel King on Sat, Dec 04
Thank you for your hard work on the site. I can honestly say it has changed my life. I have found writing through it and really love it. Thank you.
Testimonial Note from O'Ryan Anderson on Fri, Dec 03
Appreciate you guys working so hard to get the site back up and being so sweet about everything. Keep up the good word!
Testimonial Note from Anonymous on Fri, Dec 03
Just a quick note of appreciation to both of you for your care and concern…and heaps of work and probably gallons of coffee getting the site back up. My “day job” is that of a Sr. Technical Recruiter, so I hear from my Hiring Managers the hell that happens when S**T goes sideways. And they have a corps of technologists to deal with these issues. Know that I am holding you both in warm and loving thoughts… Bill Wright
Testimonial Note from Bill Wright on Fri, Dec 03
This site gives me a safe place to talk myself out of circles of anxiety. I really noticed the difference after the outage yesterday, when I wasn’t able to write my words. Today I wrote to talk myself out of anxiety over the broken streak, and other things. My brain is healthier for this, and I know that I would have less impulsion to keep up with my writing practice were it not for this site. Thank you, Buster, and thank you, Kellianne, and here’s to many more thousands of words that nobody will read.

750 Words is an important part of my day. I’m so glad this site exists!
Testimonial Note from Bethany Pratt on Wed, Dec 01
Pursuing my goal of 50-thousand words broke my brain one night. It lead to the discovery of 25 years of having a form of ADD called Executive Function Disorder.Somewhere around 15 days into the streak, I had to catch up. Writing 6500 words one day led to me diving deeper into some personal problems. Dedicating myself to my writing routine has been the best form of therapy I can point to in being more grounded and knowing myself well.
Testimonial Note from UpdateWithKate on Tue, Nov 30
750words has been my therapist for the past 18 months. I’ve had hundreds of chance to analyse my thoughts, share them with myself, and share them for the future me, one day when I ask myself why I did what I did during this time. Somewhere during the process, after 63 years, I realise that much of my fears and anxieties stem from feeling abandoned when my father died 56 years ago. My neighbour put this in perspective when we spoke about her husband dying and my divorce. She said “divorce is much harder than a partner dying. Your partner doesn’t die to leave you”. You guys rock.

Hi! I wonder if it makes sense, but one thing bothers me a little about the stats presented at the end of the writing. Sometimes the breakdown is spot on in terms of the things I was thinking about, but sometimes it’s completely off. For example, today it said that I was mostly focused on religion. I do write about religions sometimes, but I don’t belong to any. Today I wrote a pretty introspective post, but I didn’t mention a single thing about religion. It was hardly even spiritual. Just practical stuff about how I can improve my daily habits. So I was wondering, could you add an option to rate the accuracy of the stats at the end? Most of the times they are spot on or at least pretty close to what I would think, but sometimes they are completely off. I don’t know the exact mechanics of how the analysis works, and so I don’t know if it will be useful for improving the algorithm, but I just thought I’d mention that. Thank you!
New Feature Request Note from Grigory Krivtsov on Thu, Nov 25
Yep, forgot again on Sunday so I donated again. Good to know that Sunday is a danger zone for me when I go easily off-target. Happy to be writing in this space. All the best with your writing everyone.
Testimonial Note from Elly B on Mon, Nov 22
I’m not a frequent writer anymore, but as I logged in for old time’s sake, I realized I’ve logged at least a few entries every year since November 2011. Happy 10th anniversary! What a long, strange trip it’s been!
Testimonial Note from Rachel Altvater on Sat, Nov 20
While I’m grateful for what is, I can imagine and see the value of each suggestion. Given the value, I would suggest upgrading to appeal to a wider audience as a way to offer help people express themselves with words and co-create positive change in the world. .

750 is a consistent reminder of the blessed opportunity to express our greatest interests, our deepest needs, and our consistent appreciation for what this profound website offers to those who appreciate the power of writing. Thank you for this opportunity to share with others.
Testimonial Note from Ruth Simone on Fri, Nov 19
750 words… Some days it goes by fast, and I’m ready to keep writing more. Some other days, it feels like each sentence has to be dragged out of my brain, and my eyes are constantly checking the word count. Finally, some days, I am too tired and I go straight to the “Schedule time off” page to save my streak, even though it is not very long yet.
Testimonial Note from Monti Cello on Thu, Nov 18
Having a place to dump all the nonsense that builds up in my brain over night has been doing great things for my mental health and overall productivity.

This is getting expensive now. Yep, I wrote my 750 words today, but I missed yesterday, so another $5 down. I’m so grateful to 750words website for setting up this challenge so I can develop the habit of writing everyday, because I’m going to need that habit to get my PhD done!! Happy writing everyone.
Testimonial Note from Elly B on Fri, Nov 12
I am long time user and so many typos and mistakes have slipped into metadata status. I’d love to delete so I can see what I need to. Thanks!
New Feature Request Note from KAdams on Wed, Nov 10
Okay, so I missed the daily target again, and I am trying to support myself to develop discipline through allowing myself to feel consequences… so another $5 in the pot. Grateful for the opportunity to develop this skill. I have signed up for the December challenge. Keep going everyone – we can change and grow from a place of self-acceptance! :)

Buster and Kellianne are a dream team! I’ve been using 750 Words for many years now, and I recently just passed 500 days in a row of continuous writing. Never thought I could do it, but I’m pretty sure I can do anything now! Infinite gratitude for helping me to make better art, organize my life, and reflect on a daily basis.
Testimonial Note from Rob Flax on Tue, Nov 09
Uh oh, I missed a day of the November Challenge, so I am paying my penalty, as promised. I am proud of myself for doing this process and allowing myself to feel consequences is part of it! So it’s a win win. Grateful for this site. Happy writing everyone.
Testimonial Note from Elly B on Mon, Nov 08
It’s been almost 11 years since I’ve first discovered this place. Thanks for helping me keep tracking of my writing. Even when I’ve failed my writing goals, it’s good to know this place is always here.

I am putting all my available cups for an iphone app. I hope it comes out soon for the ease of journaling – a safe place to jot down thoughts and memories. I wish it happens in the coming year. fingers crossed
New Feature Vote from Siri P on Fri, Nov 05
Having a mobile app for this site will make it easier for me to write for the day when I don’t have access to my laptop, specifically when traveling and I can’t bring my laptop along.
New Feature Vote from Nicole Fenn on Wed, Nov 03
Today marks the completion of 1000 consecutive days of writing. I am grateful for the daily habit that 750words has given me to be able to BRAIN DUMP whatever is on my mind and get my thoughts and plans of action down for me to get organised. The daily habit has transformed my life in so many ways – work, home, exercise, eating – all of which benefit from this daily habit – Thank You So Much
